The fishing rights for Darwell Reservoir are exclusively held by the Cranbrook and District Angling Club (CADAC). The reservoir is known to hold carp, pike, perch and many other species of fish.
Parking and toilet facilities are available for members only. Please visit the CADAC website for more information on fishing at the reservoir and becoming a member.
You can find places to grab a drink or a bite to eat in the nearby villages of Brede, Broad Oak, and Sedlescombe. Or the town of Hastings is about 20 minutes by car.
Situated on the southwest edge of the reservoir, Darwell Wood is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). The wood is a great place to go bird-watching and is one of the few places in the UK where you can regularly spot nightjars.
The woodland is open to visitors and features many footpaths to explore. There's also a 5-mile circular walk around the reservoir which starts from the nearby village of Mountfield.
From Battle, head north on the A2100 to reach Mountfield. Or, to get to the Darwell Woods car park, take the A271 from Battle and turn right onto the B2096 towards Netherfield. Pass through the village and take a right turn signposted 'Brightling'. The car park is a little way down the road on the right hand side.
On the southwest side of Darwell Wood, you'll find free parking at the Darwell Woods car park.
The nearby villages of Robertsbridge and Mountfield have a few places where you can get something to eat and drink.
