Southern Water tankers given a splash of colour

Four of Southern Water’s tankers were given a colourful makeover as part of an artwork competition. 

Children at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Primary School in Crawley along with young people at the College of Richard Collyer in Horsham saw their water saving inspired winning entries displayed on the supersized tankers.

The artwork had a very simple message about saving water– as part of Southern Water’s wider Target 100 campaign to reduce water usage across the region by an average of 100 litres per person by 2040. 

It was also part of Southern Water’s localised campaign in Horsham which was launched last year to increase visibility in the area, reducing blockages, promote customer affordability packages and provide information to customers about how they can save water.  

Southern Water’s Education Officer, Jo Wood, said: 

“It was fantastic to see pupils use their creativity to give our tankers a new lease of life. We were thrilled with the winning entries, and the children were delighted to see their designs on our tankers.” 

The winning entries at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Primary School are Year Five pupils Oliwia and Safiyyah. Oliwia’s entry used the slogan shorter showers give you super powers and Safiyyah’s picture honed in on the message of don’t waste water.  

The two winning entries at The College of Richard Collyer are Year 12 students Robyn and Tiffany. Robyn’s artwork showcases a person brushing their teeth looking into the mirror, next to them on the wall is the simple and effective message “turn it off”. Tiffany’s artwork has a tap with the slogan “every drop you save makes a difference”. 

The designs will stay on the tankers over the summer months.
